TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN (19)

To whom it may concern, 1300 hours, 05/02/2004

The basic failure of society, its philosophers and its leaders is the improper identification of the origin of knowledge. Let me explain the means by which we perceive reality, identify and file information, integrate with existing conceptions and knowledge, recognize new relationships and form new concepts. Let's return to the time of the historical BUDDHA and the considered lessons attributed to Him. As the relief of suffering was his only admitted mandate, we must leave behind all speculation and views. He spoke of the five aggregates of 'existence', (my quotes), and arisen states 'of mind'(again). We also see that all arisen states are conditioned and self-asserting and spiritually non-productive insofar as they constitute suffering, "samsara". FOR EXAMPLE: if we see material phenomena, it elicits a feeling conditioned by our brains recognition/non-recognition of its relations to us and our environment and crystalizes as a perception of familiarity, fear or non-interest, and we achieve conscious consideration of action or non-action in its regard.

If you are obese ,,,,,, you have failed to recognize, and thus identify, the most important and most self-evident relation in existence: the fact that you, your health and your psycho-epistemology ( by what rules and filters do you screen the information that forms your basis of knowledge from which you form your concepts ) are the most important existants.

Not to worry ,,,,,,, you are in the majority of the population.

However, one of the draw-backs of existential complacence and the resulting passive intellect is best expressed in the old saw: “If you don’t use it, you lose it”. Not only you will lose the chance at forming your life and its standards, but those who depend upon you for example and guidance will have trouble imagining such a choice even exists.

Overcoming the inertia of one's current morals and protocols is a first, and perhaps the hardest stage of re-inventing one's consciousness; discovering what facets of life are important, which need adjustment. Remember Dylan's song, (I forget the title):"...you got to serve somebody ..."? I would ask: "what do you serve? Are you a slave to money, food, alcohol; do you really need them?"

BUILDING...

I believe that the brain, as a tool for MAN'S survival, is mainly concerned with Identifying Perceptions, that is Objects and Concepts (universals), and their qualifiers (particulars), and noting existing relationships and cognition of new relationships, among universals; an adding machine that is perpetually on as long as living. The consciousness that avails itself of the product of the brain's computations is another story...Could it be a facility of common access to all sentient beings, individually conditioned, thus reflecting different educations and environments as persons construct their abstracts of reality in their attempt to survive?

Of note: Has anyone ever investigated the alarming similarities between obesity and homosexuality? I realize that the objective profiles of the subjects of this study are at almost opposite ends of the scale on socio- economic-educational issues, but the logical rationalizations, and unexamined epistomologies, are similar in several particular perspectives.

??? have you ever noticed how many of your thoughts and actions are essentially nothing more than exercises in self-assertion, and thus, wasted time. True security lies less in proving one's existence
